Trending Cosmetic Procedures For The New Year

We are heading into a brand new year and many people have changes they want to make in their lives. However, according to the Huffington Post, “only 8 percent of people actually keep their New Year’s resolutions.”

That means that no matter how badly you want to alter your habits, you are fighting an uphill battle.

What is it that inspires those 8 out of 100 people to make a change and stick with it? Small, incremental adjustments are many times the key to success as opposed to going cold turkey with a major lifestyle overhaul.

For some, the idea of fixing a flaw in their looks is a big motivation. So what’s new for cosmetic surgery in 2018? This post gives some insight on one procedure that is trending:

The Laser Bra Lift

In contrast to the early 2000s trend of larger breasts, some may argue that small boobs are trending these days (though, to be clear, all shapes and sizes have been and always will be bomb). According to the ASAPS, a scalpel-free, laser-assisted breast reduction coined, “The Laser Bra Lift,” could rival traditional breast reductions in 2018.

“It creates a full, perky look— it’s essentially an internal bra, with no foreign material,” explains Grant Stevens, a Los Angeles-based plastic surgeon, who pioneered the two-hour procedure after noticing that lasers affect breast tissue similarly to facial tissue (i.e. improved elasticity and smoothness). Instead of removing and discarding excess skin from the breast, the Laser Bra Lift leaves skin intact and treats it with a C02 laser, thereby creating an “internal bra.”

Looking for a way to help one feel younger and more vital can assist in many aspects of their life, with physical, social and emotional acceptance. The availability of cosmetic surgeons and the power of social media have played a big role in boosting the stats for increasing numbers of cosmetic procedures.

The rich and famous that inspire many of the catchy fads are to blame for the ongoing and exaggerated look that people strive for. For example, the Botox-induced plump lips have been very popular in the last few years due to the influence of celebrities such as the Kardashians.

On the other hand, there are some popular fads that many people feel need to disappear in 2018. The first two in this next video have to do with cosmetic trends, such as Christmas eyebrows and Botox lip injections, but others are popular toys and gestures that have been overdone.

Ironically, one of the trends that they mention should go away is one of the styles they are saying you need to try in the previous video, which goes to show you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder:

One trend that will definitely continue is the popularity of minimally invasive procedures because busy people want less downtime.

I do agree that wavy eyebrows or unicorn hair might be pushing the envelope a little, but I have always felt that each person has the right to decide what makes them happy.

And speaking of happy…Happy New Year to all!
